| Abstract in Englisch: | The American grapevine leafhopper Scaphoideus titanus (Cicadellidae) is the main vector of Flavescence dorée (FD) phytoplasma, which causes the quarantine disease Grapevine Flavescence dorée. Originating in North America S. titanus was introduced to Europe in the 1950s and to Austria in 2004. The overall aim of the present study was to find a plant protection treatment, which effectively reduces the nymphal hatch of S. titanus at the start of the growing season in order to prevent the population development of S. titanus and the spread of FD phytoplasma. An extensive systematic literature search was carried out to identify candidate pesticides and resulted in the selection of six test substances. Laboratory trials were carried out to evaluate the effect of the selected pesticides on the nymphal hatch of S. titanus under controlled conditions at 24°C, 75- 80% rel.hum.,16L:8D. As test plant material two-year-old canes of Isabella (Vitis vinifera × Vitis labrusca) vines from a vineyard with presence of S. titanus in the year 2017 were collected. In the laboratory trials a newly developed test cage and method were used. The test cage was developed to allow the use of infested canes in a vertical position during application and a standardized assessment of the number of hatched S. titanus nymphs over the whole hatching period with yellow sticky traps. The 6 test substances etofenprox, spirotetramat, paraffin oil, azadirachtin, spirodiclofen and aluminium silicate resulted in a reduction of the nymphal hatch of S. titanus in relation to the control (water) of 100%, 99%, 83%, 72%, 64% and 47% respectively. The present study suggests that a plant protection treatment against S. titanus nymphs at an earlier application date (BBCH 17-19/55) than the usually recommended one (BBCH 19/73-81) is effective and could provide an additional tool in the control of S. titanus and the prevention of the spread of Flavescence dorée. | Schlagworte | Schlagwörter Deutsch: | Scaphoideus titanus, Cicadellidae, Insekt, Vektor, Phytoplasma, Flavescence dorée, Bekämpfung, Etofenprox, Spirotetramat , Paraffinöl, Azadirachtin, Spirodiclofen | Schlagwörter Englisch: | Scaphoideus titanus, Cicadellidae, Insect, Vector, Phytoplasma, Flavescence dorée, Control, Etofenprox, Spirotetramat , Paraffin oil, Azadirachtin, Spirodiclofen | Sonstiges | Signatur: | D-20671 | Organisationseinheit, auf der die Arbeit eingereicht wird: | H95300 Institut für Pflanzenschutz | |
